Are you interested in a career as a John Deere Service Technician but not sure how to get started? The P&K Service Technician Training Program is designed to prepare new service technicians for a career in the high-tech field of agricultural, turf, and compact construction equipment.
P&K – in cooperation with Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology (Okmulgee, OK), Fort Scott Community College (Fort Scott, KS), and Garden City Community College (Garden City, KS) – offers this two-year college Internship Program that leads to an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science. In addition to the two-year program, Fort Scott Community College also offers a one-year John Deere Certification Program.
Program Options at a Glance
Two-Year Degree Option
While completing the two-year program option, P&K service technicians will learn through a balanced rotation of classroom theory & hands-on application. Time will be split between on-campus learning and real-world application at the dealership. Upon completion of the two-year program, our technicians will receive an Associates Degree in Applied Science through one of our partner schools.
John Deere One-Year Certification Program
This program is a one-year John Deere-certified training program only offered at Fort Scott Community College. The program uses a traditional on-campus learning structure, providing students with troubleshooting knowledge, and hands-on experience in the areas of service, repair, and rebuilding John Deere equipment. Through this 12-month fast-track option, students will become a John Deere Certified Technician.

To enter the Service Technician Program, candidates must have the following:
- A high school degree
- The minimum requirements to be admitted to the college or university
- A two-year employment commitment to P&K Equipment, post-graduation
